We have a talented bunch of illustrators here at Rumpus, so we got stuck right in when BBC Bitesize asked us to design seven stories. They were looking to launch a new online learning resource for KS2 modern foreign language learners. Our illustrations would need to sit alongside a written english description of the story which would include audio cues for the key words in Mandarin, French and Spanish.
How We Did It
To make sure the illustrations were telling the story we worked up pencil roughs for each of the six panels, reviewing them with the BBC. Here’s a few roughs and finished stories for Mandarin, Spanish and French learners.
