Celebrating it’s first birthday in 2026, the Blue Peter Book Club is all about sharing a world of exciting books. We were commissioned by the BBC Bitesize team to produce six 30″ synopsis animations for a brilliant collection of books; The Train of Dark Wonders, The Guardian of the New Moon, The Cosmic Diary of a Future Space Explorer, Outside In, The Adventures of a Rap Kid and Pablo and Splash. How We Did It
Working to storyboards and scratch voiceovers from the Bitesize team, we used design assets from the book publishers to bring the stories to life. Matching the different illustrator’s styles, we used cover artwork to design the palette for colouring black and white illustrations from within the books, before animating them Moho.
Once the animation had been approved by Bitesize and Blue Peter, the presenters recorded fantastic voiceovers giving the animation loads of energy. Each synopsis was broadcast accompanied by themed sections, and published on the website along with reviews and a sample section.
