The Brief
We produced three animations for the Bristol based charity SARSAS, Somerset and Avon Rape and Sexual Abuse Support, funded by the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust. The films needed to start conversations and deliver vital messages around consent to a teenage audience. The animations covered three subjects; alcohol and consent, sexual harassment in the workplace and consent.
How We Did It
In the design phase we pitched characters to fit a brief that asked for no specific sex, age or race – experimenting with different animal and blob characters.
The client happily settled upon our silly ‘blobs’. They make mistakes and flounder around as the voice over gives advice on acceptable behaviours and common misconceptions around the themes.
When the two leading character blobs were approved, we took them into the storyboard phase so the client could visualise the stories from start to finish.
When the storyboard was locked and we had our voice over recording from the wonderful Sally Bailey, we zipped together all the frames and audio into an animatic. This was then passed to our brilliant animators to use as a timing guide, then the animation magic happens!
